Skaftafell National Park & Svínafellsjökull - 6th August 2003

Skaftafell National Park & Svínafellsjökull, 12/12: Trees! In Iceland!!

After our jaunt around the glacier, we were taken back to the Skaftafell car park, where we spied something that we had seen very little of in the whole of our travels - trees in Iceland, and seemingly naturally occuring trees too!

In all fairness, they weren't at all tall, only a few feet, but they were none the less trees.

After making ourselves some lunch (having to buy bread at Skaftafell practically bankrupted us - 200IKR / UK£1.60 / US$2.60 - for a tiny loaf) we headed on our merry way back clockwise around route 1, hoping to get somewhere reasonably civilised to camp for the night.
